Becoming the Global Journalist

Unknown

The Global Journalist video taught me that being a journalist in this day and age you must be apart of all technology and be able to go out and find your audience. All journalist are basically digital journalist. The readers have shaped the way news rooms operate and helps you edit and tailor it to them. Its instant feedback you know exactly what you audience wants and how to get it to them. With breaking news its better to be right than to be first! I feel like it is no longer a 24 hour news its a 24 second news every second there is a new story and high demands but journalist have to remember that people want the truth and facts straight not being first. Story first!

Everyone’s a video journalist

This chapter helped me realize how important video is and being a well rounded journalist is, The amount of people on YouTube alone is shocking that a huge audience that you can reach-out to. I recently started a YouTube channel but I have shot and uploaded videos on schools and person life projects. This chapter gave me the tools to create better quality video shots that are more compelling in my argument. This information will help me grow my portfolio for future jobs. Audio is where I mostly struggle when it comes to video production I want my videos to be as professional as possible but I cant afford those expensive mics. This chapter informed me that my DSLR camera built in mic is good enough if used with the right settings. I need to improve on my video skills in order for me to compete In this market! maxresdefault

Why is Blogging so important?

cropped-AbeeIt helped me re-solidify my reason to start my blog in the first place for a place and platform for people that are often unheard and reminded me that blogging is a good start to journalism career although many times people have told me its the start to sloppy journalism. This chapter also taught me a word I never even heard of (microblogging) WHAT? Yet micro blogging is something that I do everyday (probably more often than I should. I love micro blogging or as I call it Twitter it helps me get a quick message out with a link or a picture attached without me having to write a 1,000 word blog post. Also how significant it is to reports to get break news stories. This chapter also touched on how to better brand and market myself with social media and joining I the conversation. This chapter changed my mind on on what blogging is and what it means to me

Intro in to Being a Mass Media Journalist !

Unknown-1

This Chapter taught me a lot about the background information on computers and originally I thought I knew a lot. I already have my own website hosted on wordpress and using go daddy as my server yet there is still a lot that I don’t know about the backing of my site. There is a lot of information on data and coding that I had no clue about because wordpress makes it so easy. But understanding how my website in run in great information for me to learn. This chapters also taught me why my videos and post can take so long to upload because of the space that they take up. When I first got my computer my grandmother would always tell me to clean my cached files but, I never did. And now im 100% sure that why my computer would run so slow after all of the huge saveed files that I had. I originally learned about plugins from my site wordpress has tons of them. This book taugth me that I use plugins everyday on my google Chrome. All along I thought RSS feeds were something lame that people used way back in the 90’s and they were a) hard or b) boring to look at. But I learned that they are super easy to set up and use to help you grow your audience. I use MailChimp as my RSS feed and I never really knew thy were basically the same thing.
